“Orange Squash!” a 2 feet by 2 feet Acrylic painting, is more complex and revealing than is at first
noticeable, for its composition has the colours and texture fighting each other, while also
harmonizing each other at the same time, and yet are a contradiction within themselves.
central Green Shaft is straight, geometric and bold, yet is “painterly”, letting you see
vividly the brush strokes that gives it its vibrancy and character, while the Orange Shafts
are organic and intuitive, though slightly smoother and more blended.
Both are fighting the
black mantle, which strengthens the composition as a whole and the Painting comes together
with these conflicting elements to become as one, and so plays with the viewer, inviting
them to pay closer attention to the eternal struggle that is being witnessed before them.
